Choosing a Better Credit Card
Lots of people only have one credit card and stick with it
for life; however, there are so many better credit
card services available that the competition is
really hot at the moment.
This means that you could actually get a much better deal if
you are willing to shop around a little. While you may think
the card you have works well enough, it’s worthwhile to open
yourself up to the options. Hop on the Internet and do some
searches and find out what sort of credit cards are out there
and how they may be able to help you.
If your current credit card company is not offering you the
best rates for you, then you might want to think about
switching to another provider.
There are two different ways that you can move your balance
onto a new credit card:
1) You will receive an offer, which is normally posted to
you. This may well offer better terms to the ones on your
current card. You will immediately know that the rate is better
and whether or not you want to switch over to them.
2) You apply to the new credit card company and tell them
that you are going to be moving a balance over from your old
credit card. This can be done by searching on the Internet and
applying for the card.
Once you have a new card you can move the balance over and
then cancel the old card. It couldn’t actually be any easier
for you. If you fill in your current details on your
application form then this should all be automated and not
require any action on your part. You might be able to find a
better credit card very easily without having to do anything
complicated.
Providers really like to swap balances because they earn
interest on existing balances. The competition is so fierce
that many people can get very good rates by swapping their
balances onto a new card. It’s very easy to find a card that
you can transfer your balance to, as it is a great money earner
in a very competitive market.
When you are looking for a new credit card company you
should be careful to choose a card that has:
1) A lower APR than your current card – this will save you
money in interest
2) A better reward system – this will give you better
rewards for using your card
3) Low membership fees (or none if possible) – If possible
take out a card that doesn’t have any membership or monthly
fees.
You don’t actually have to close your old credit card
account if you don’t want to, you can keep both accounts
active. This will allow you to spend money on both cards, which
is useful in emergencies!
You might like to keep both cards if, for example, one
offers a better rewards system, but the other has a lower APR.
Both can be kept active and used occasionally, with the lower
APR card being used for the bulk of your balance. Find
a better credit card today and start saving some
money!
